So when do we start getting sued?

Someone is making officially licensed armor. I wonder when they are going to crack down on the rest of the armor makers out there with Cease and Desist orders.

Wow. I bet the pricing will be over the top. Let's hope that the quality is up to our standards. (Unlike many of the licensed items of the past...ahem! Rubies!)

How do you guys/gals think this will affect what we do?

One thing to look for is the quality. I know Roubies made the Supreme Darth Vader. It is only acceptable with a TON of mods. It will be interesting to see what happens. The only thing I can go by is experience. MR did not go after the prop makers for Clone, TK, or Boba Fett helmets. Or the prop makers who made the lightsabers. I think discretion is the key here. Time will tell.

Personally, the fan made stuff is alot better then the mass produced stuff. I hope that there are no cease and desist orders.

Museum Replicas has been offering "brown galatic boots and black slayer boots" for a few years now. The brown are a squared toe verison of Qui-Gon's and the black are Anakin's. I'm the not so proud owner of the brown pair. They look okay, but the are not comfortable, the have no traction, and the length long side zipper brakes everytime you try to wear them. However, their tunics, swords, capes, etc are really nice and durable. I've had a cloak for about 12 years now.

Based on their prices for Medieval / Ren Fest stuff, I would say they are fair. I thought their prices for items like the Tales of Suspense # 39 & # 40 Iron Man helmets were a bit high. ($350-$400.)

It will be interesting to see where this goes...

I'm a little lost, what the bantha fodder does this mean for this highly sophisticated orginization of nerds who want to do charity with style?

Right now it doesn't mean anything. We've been discussing this issue over at the FISD forums as well and right now I believe the general consensus is that there may be pressure to allow this liscenced armor into 501st standards. But even that is purely conjecture at this point.

Honestly I'm not overly concerned about unliscenced armor makers being any more "hunted down" now than they were before.

Well, we dont just have "fake" blasters. We have a few things that work. (This is not a direct threat, I mean we could use the Trekies as shields to cover our escape into Canada).

I like the way you think.

Over at TDH there seems to be a few people who are working with them sorta but the hints they have gave is that it will be like the supreme vader. Better than a normal crappy rubies costume and good enough looking that the general public thinks it looks great but to us it shouldn't even affect us. Like previous people have said you just can't match the quality of fan made items and Master Replicas didn't mess with anyone to my knowledge.
