The bucket has arrived!

I just glued down the spacers for both shoes. I will let them set over night.



Be sure when you are transferring the patterns to the vinyl to turn them face down on the back side of the vinyl so they fit correctly when you go to glue them down. I figured this out for trial and error on my first cut. I had to do the first one over because the pattern was not lining up correctly.



I have the filler pieces glued down now I will let them set up for 24hrs before I go on to the next step. FYI be sure and ruff up the surface before gluing down your vinyl. This will give you a better set. I used a 200grt. sand paper and it did a great job.

Ok, more progress as promised. Second stage of Clone shoe assembly. I Laid out my patterns first.



Then dry fit them and trimmed off any excess before applying any glue to the shoe. When applying the glue be sure to work fast because the glue will start to set quickly. After you apply the vinyl to the glue you can let it set for a few min. It will still be workable so you can make adjustments. I put on a heavy coat but be sure to not use to much. Or your shoes will have bubbles in them. I also made sure to work from the front to the back of the shoe.





My shoes were pre- marked along the top edge of the sole from previous layouts so I had a ref. point when installing the vinyl.



Any excess glue was removed from the sole edge to clean them up for an even fit. The sides were done one at a time and overlapped on the heel of the shoe.







After each side was assembled I made sure to stuff each shoe with paper towels in order maintain there shape while drying .





The next step will be to add the toe and tounge of the shoes.

The vinyl is finished. Now I just need to fasten the corners. I'm not sure what I'm going to use. I'm thinking velcro?

Any way first I cut the toe panels and shins.



Then I glued them to each other and rolled them out, my paint cans were handy so I used them as a roller.



After rolling them together I glued them down to the toe of the shoe.







I attached some detail pieces to the tops of both shoes.





Then I taped everything together to dry and this is what I have.





I'm not to sure if they are going to work or not, first they have to get approved by the 501st and second they have to wear correctly.
They may need some tweaking here and there and I will try to use them if I can because you can't beat the price that's for sure. If they don't work out I'm sure I can find something.

Here are the last photos of my completed clone shoes. I am waiting for my straps and I am keeping my fingers crossed that they will cover the snaps I installed to hold down the fabric. Next step finish everything else and troop in these boots to see what falls off.

I used velcro for the tongue closure and it seems to be working well. I used it on both sides, but I may glue down the outside in order to make them look a bit cleaner. I realy only need an access point on one side to get them on my feet.



I installed a button snap and a elastic fabric to help hold up the excess vinyl.



I am not a model, but here you go!



Last but not least the finished product with out the straps installed yet.

Ok a quick update on the completed clone shoe build. I decided to remove the velcro from the outside of each shoe and glue them down. Im glad I did it! It's a cleaner look and it made them look 100 times better. So in closing don't velcro the outside just use velcro on the inside.

The clone shoes are now done. THX to a friend for the last piece to the puzzle they turned out great. Nothing left to do but weather them and wear them. The straps are velcroed on for now in order to fit them to my armour that's soon to be here.

Up to date bucket progress. I stumbled across some small speakers at the store on an end cap and thought to myself, hmm? Those would be perfect for my bucket . I am trying to add the most detail that I can to my gear and see what I can do that I have not seen done before. And the following is the progress so far.

I cut them down to size and primered them




I let them dry for a day or two and then hit them with a chrome spray paint


I dry fitted them for now before installing on the bucket


My progress on the bucket is coming along, I know that it's taking me some time but as I have said I am a perfectionist.
The time between progress is good because it makes me take my time and really focus on the details. As well as lets the paint cure for a few days between coats.





Now the paint I used here was a rusoleum product. It's called a duel coat paint. I didn't notice it before I sprayed it on and I was kind of concerned because it went on quite heavy. But it covered well and in the end it filled in really smooth so it turned out great. So I may have stumbled on to a good product by accident. It does run a bit but I used a brush between my first few coats in order to set a good base coat. Then hit it with a light coat and it smoothed out while drying. No paint runs at all in the finish.







Well that's what I have so far. I'll keep you posted as I move along.
