Where: Mid-Continent Public Library, Lee's Summit Branch on Colburn Rd.

When: Saturday, October 20, 2007 from 2:00pm - 3:30pm

Why: Mid-Continent Public Library is celebrating 30 Years of Star Wars

Throughout October the Kansas City FanForce, Heart of the Alliance, has been working with Mid-Continent Public Library to celebrate 30 years of Star Wars and the continuation of Star Wars through reading. We had a very successful 'test run' at the small Oak Grove branch on October 1st, and we're gearing up for the two larger events scheduled for Saturday, October 20 at the Lee's Summit Colburn Rd. Branch and Saturday, October 27 at the Boardwalk KC North Branch (both are from 2-3:30). Because these are larger venues with larger number of children registering, we would like to extend an invitation to our 501st and Rebel Legion brothers and sisters to attend and help us out with the kids.

Obviously, we'd welcome costumed people, but if you or a family member would like to help out w/o a costume, we have plenty of 'roles' that folks can play. We are reading Star Wars stories to the kids, making crafts, bringing Star-Wars themed snacks, and taking pictures and playing. For a general idea of what will happen, see here.

Um, we've got 30 kids

already signed up for this event and more will just 'show up' i'm sure, so please let us know if you're willing to come out and corral some kids that love Star Wars!

Wow! What a great event! All in all we had 77 as a final head count.

It was chaos but an ordered chaos. lol I wore my TIE to this one w/ my sound system working finally I was able to tell the kids I was Darth Vader's "wingman"
